“One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art” - Oscar Wilde
Amy Jones founded The Artwear Emporium in 2012, as an antithesis to the uniformity and mass produced nature of high street fashion.
A textile artist at heart, she sources interesting textiles and crafts them into unique, beautiful garments that would turn heads and make people say “I want that”. Like a piece of art, but you can wear it…
As more information about practices within fabric manufacture has become available, Amy focuses on consciously creating small collections of garments using three textile approaches;
Using discontinued fabrics in natural fibres.
Using undyed fabrics and hand painting them with natural non-toxic dyes.
And finally; creating zero waste textiles using the offcuts from the previous two textile approaches. This creates a circular system within the brand that both minimises waste and maximises the unique nature of the garments we make.
“The clothes we wear say something about who we are. Let’s make sure they’re saying the right thing” - Colin Firth
